Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down

It's time for another edition of Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down. We will go over some of sports good and bad from last week.


Thumbs Up- To Regina Pats head coach Curtis Hunt for naming Colton Teubert captain. The Pats went all the way until January without one as both Hunt and Pats GM Brent Parker. Said they were going to cycle the three A's around until they found it didn't work. Well as we all know it didn't work so teubert being named captain it now gives the young guys on the team someone to look up to and follow his lead.


Thumbs Down- To the NHL for not following through with a proper investigation into Alex Burrows claim that ref Stephane Auger threatened him with retribution before the Vancouver/Nashville game. In which Burrows was giving 16 minutes in penalties. Auger was said to be upset that Burrows made him look bad in a game earlier in the season because of a penalty call against the other team. With that said all the NHL did was hold a little meeting nope and nope didn't happen right.

I'm good are you good. OK. So now we will fine Alex $2500 for bad mouthing a NHL official. Of course it never happened right? Idiots.



Thumbs Up- Once again Theo Fleury as he pursuing the case against Graham James. Theo official filed the criminal complaint on Jan.6 the police are now investigating the complaint to see if any charges will be laid.Fleury traveled to Winnipeg to make the complaint because James was coaching the Winnipeg Warriors, who are now the Moose Jaw Warriors, where fleury became a junior star, at the time of the assault began.


Thumbs Down- To former NFL star Bruce Smith who pleaded guilty to DUI on Thursday of last week. Smith ,46, was fined $1000 and got a 90 day suspended sentence in a plea agreement with the Virginia Beach prosecutors, who dropped the charges of speeding and refusing to take a breath test. He got a restricted licence as well, but from what I can tell he can drive all over the place. Smith said that he made a mistake and he wanted to own up to it and be a asset to the community.

Smith claimed all he had was some wine with friends. That must have been a lot of wine. Right Bruce?
