Welcome to a brand new week and the title of this post sums up the day and weekend perfectly "Mayhem", that's what we have had here in Regina and Saskatchewan over the past weekend and today due to the weather. Where should we start first how about getting stuck in the driveway and having to dig out. Which by the way didn't work, then after calling for a ride and for my auntie to drive not only me but Ashley, to work then to come back and wait for the tow truck to tow the car out and back into the parking spot. But thank god we have great neighbors as they help us dig out, and push the car until it wasn't stuck so we could get on are way, once again thanks guys you were a big help and if it happens to you I will return the favor.
So off to work we went, which once we got off are street and onto the main streets they are not as bad, but still need a lot of plowing which I did see quite a few plows out they it's nice to the City of Regina is doing something. Just hope we can get back into the drive tonight after work lol. So back to the weekend and it was quite the weekend for the Pats as they picked up 4 of 4 points this weekend sweeping the Broncos, and now sit just four back of the and 6 back back of Red Deer for the final playoff spot. On the Friday, it was the Pats coming away with a 6-5 shot out win at the Brandt Centre.
In a game that saw the Broncos take three different 2 goal leads. The Pats got off to a very slow start and fell down by 2 after the first, they were able to use there very potent power play to tie the game at 2.Mitchell,Teubert getting those goals, only to see Swift Current's Adam Lowry and Michael Stickland restore the two point spread. But Eberle scored for the Pats to pull the Pats back within 1 after 4o minutes. Then in the third Stickland scored his second of the game making it 5-3 at the point that's when I said this game is over and the Pats are in trouble. But the home town team would not be denied tonight as two new comes to the Pats scored Mitch McColm,Cass Mappin to tie the game at 5 that's the way it would stay.
Despite a few chances none better than the Pats pp in ot but this game and for the second straight meeting between the two clubs both coming at the Brandt Centre went to a shootout. Both Eberle and Weal, scored for the Pats while Ketlo would stop Bronco shooters Eakin,Hoban game over Pats win 6-5 and got two big points. The two teams did it up again the next night this time in Swift Current in what has to be the strangest Pats game in a very long time. The Pats came out flying just like they had to jumping out to 2-0 chasing Broncos goalie Mark Frisen from the net for the second time in three games, he was replace by Morgan Clark.
Which if someone can tell me why in the hell would Bronco coach Mark Lamb go with Frisen over Clark again Frisen has only been light up by the Pats the last two games. But it's their team I don't give a shit what they do, they could put their retarded mascot in net as far as I care. The change seemed to do some good for the Broncos as they came out in the second on a mission, as Dillon Wagner scored for the Broncos cutting the Pats lead to 1. And that's were the game would stay for over a hour, what a hour you say yes, a hour. There was a power outage at CU Ipex nobody knew what was going on or what was going to happen that's when the league said if they lights don't come back on by 10:15 that's it, not to sure if the game would have ended 2-1 Pats after two periods or if they would have made up the third somewhere down the line.
But at 10:05 we had lights. Game on. But for some reason the power hungry security guards began, kicking the fans that stay out not to sure why but anyways the teams came back out to 200 hundred people or so. I know quite a few Pat fans made the trip but only 20 or so stayed not to sure how they could have left Swift considering the road conditions maybe they stayed at a hotel. But about 20 Pat fans saw there team come away with a 5-2 win and another 2 big points. With goals by Teubert,Carlson,Weal. The City of Swift Current put $13 million dollars into their piece of shit rink, to get in up to WHL regulations with the upgrades instead of being a piece of shit, it's a piece of garbage with no proper back up lighting good job guys nice upgrades.
The Pats made a very wise choice by staying the night in Swift, instead of trying to come back the same night only to come out in the morning to find there bus was stuck in the snow. When the two truck driver showed up he said aren't you guys the Pats, if you were Moose Jaw I would give ya a tow he was just kidding around that's when someone from the Pats, said if we were Moose Jaw we won't be staying in this nice of a hotel very funny stuff and very true. But they got out now back to the CU Ipex to pick up the gear only to get stuck for a second time free once again on the way by the way the fee for the tow was for Ebs to sign his truck weird but a honour. Not to sure if that's Ebs first weird requests but it won't be his last.
On the road to play the Kootney Ice the same night back at home only to find out that the Ice are stuck in Saskatoon so instead of the 6pm start it's now a 8pm start, but in the end the game was postponed as the Ice can't get out of Saskatoon the Pats are home safe but the Ice can't get down here. Which sucks but is the right thing to do you can't put lives in danger like that so the game will be played at a later date not to sure when. From what I understand there are a few different options the Ice are back here in two weeks to play the Pats on Feb.6 so they might play a doubleheader that day which is Saturday which I'm not in favor of it would be cool but it's not fair to the Pats as they have to play the Blades the night before. Or they could play on Super Bowl Sunday at 1 or 1:30 the game would be over in time for the Super Bowl, the last option is for the Ice to come back at the end of the season to play the game if it means anything in the standings, which again I'm not in favor of and for one reason it would cost to much money not to play the game.
So I think the best option is to play on Super Bowl Sunday at 1pm the game would be over around 3:30pm and kickoff is at 5pm lots of time to be able to get home or wherever you maybe going to watch the game. But in the mean time and in between time the Pats are off until this weekend when the Pats and Warriors hook up for the weekend home and home along with the Alumni game should be a great weekend and hopefully the Pats present and past win their games.
Speaking of Super Bowl Sunday it will be the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints hooking up in Miami in the 44th Super Bowl for those who may remember I said a few weeks back it would be the Colts and Vikings in the big game. And it would be if the Vikings could hang onto the damn ball four fumbles 2 in the red zone, not to mention a too many men in the huddle penalty in the 30 seconds of the game which took them out of field goal range. Sound familiar a too many men call in the dying seconds of the game I don't know teams keep getting this wrong. Favre would end up throwing a pick the next play but don't blame Brett he did everything he could.
The Saints would end up winning in overtime 31-28 onto the show against the Colts I have to say go Saints.
Over in the AFC Championship game as mentioned before it was the Indianapolis beating the New York Jets, the Jets? how did they get there. They got there with great D and a never say die attitude but the Colts were just to much for them even if the Jets at one time in this game winning 17-6. But the Colts are scary they can score in bunches, but so can the Saints. As we know the Super Bowl's hype is usually better than the game itself but I'm hoping that this year is different of course I have said that for many of year's now.
Patrice Cormier's suspension will be announced today, and if the QMJHL does what is right they will sit him down for the rest of the season including playoffs. I hope he just get to play somewhere else but he might.
Well that's it for now, be safe out there on the streets and if today is a snow day for you, my driveway needs a good shoveling.
