Absolute Discharge Granted
Eric Tillman will walk out of the Regina Courthouse today with no criminal record as Judge Murray Hinds granted him an absolute discharge of his summary sexual assault charge.
That means there will be no record of the charge.
Here a few of Judge Hinds' comments:
- There is no indication Mr. Tillman is not a person of great character.
- The incident with the victim was an aberration fueled by his consumption of two non-prescription drugs.
- He appears remorseful for his actions.
- Registering a conviction would hinder Mr. Tillman's ability to gain future employment in football.
- Non-consensual sexual touching is an offence. Others must be deterred from acting in a similar matter but in this instance it ocurred because of pain medication.
- His behaviour was out of character and the sexual assault was brief and he stopped when notified it was unacceptable.
- No further conditions should be imposed on Mr. Tillman. He is not a threat to society.
NOTE:
The Roughriders' Executive Board will meet on this TOMORROW and there will be no statement until tomorrow.
