Canucks Win Game 1
Towel power is still a live and well a quarter century in Vancouver the Canucks believe they have the team to make a long run. The young Blues beat the odds to make the playoffs. You can see in the first 5 minutes that both teams have some jiggers but early in the game you can also see the difference between regular season and the playoffs. St.Louis had the only 2 shots in the first five and half minutes of the game due to both teams selling out to block as many shoots as they can.
In the first 6 minutes Luongo reached two snow showers the first power play of the game went yo St.Louis as Elder took a elbowing penalty which the Canucks managed to kill off. The Pavol Demitra made a veteran play faking a shot twice then a nice slap pass to Daniel Sedin in the slot who tip it in past Chris Mason to make it 1-0 for Vancouver on only there 3 shot of the game the goal came on a delayed penalty. Later on in the second frame the Blues had a 5-3 power play but it was Ryan Kesler,Alex Burrows,Willie Mitchell and Roberto Luongo shutting them down. Then Keith Tkachuk being the loose cannon he is takes a cheap shot at Burrows costing his team the rest of the power play.
After the first both teams had 9 shots and 3 power plays but it was the Canucks who lead 1-0. At the start of the second the Blues were on their fourth power play of the game not to long after the kill it was Burrows who got in behind the Blues D. Burrows got a great pass from Daniel Sedin that sprung him on a break away but an even better play by Carlo Colaiacovo making up ground to poke the puck off Burrows stick before going crashing into the net then the boards. Sami Salo with a very hard low shot from the point to make it 2-0 for the Canucks Salo got his first of the playoffs and the first power play goal of the series.
As good as the Blues were in the first they have come unglued in the early going of the second Kyle Wellwood in 10 seconds had two great scoring chances with Chris Mason equal to the challenge. 37 Minutes into the game and Mats Sundin still has done nothing for some reason maybe his helmet was pushed up to high and the lights were bouncing of his Mr. Clean hair cut and into his eyes. Other than the two snow jobs that the Blues gave Luongo they have not come close to getting in his face. If the Blues think that's going to work on a all-star goalie like Luongo they better think again they better start getting in his kitchen.
The Blues finally got one with 1:44 to go in the second on the power play St.Louis leading scorer Brad Boyes scored it after a big shot from the blue line. Which came out to him and he made no mistake Luongo made a desperate dive with his stick which he just missed. After 40 minutes Vancouver leads 2-1 and were out shooting St.Louis 20-16 and what has become the norm early in the playoffs the refs did everything in their power to take any flow out of the game give out 14 penalties 8 to Vancouver and 6 to St.Louis but doesn't everybody pay to see the refs call penalties what a bunch of boneheads. Of the first 40 minutes more than 20 of them were played on the power play.
At the start of the third Chris Mason was tested three times in the first 30 seconds turning them all aside. At the 6:12 of the third and only one after he whistle scrum and just two penalties. Finally Mats Sundin realized that there was a hockey game be played and it only took 50 minutes. Not bad for a guy who took months to make up his mind if he was going to play this season. At the 14:02 mark of the the period the Canucks were outshouting the Blues 15-2.
For a team like the Blues who are down by one and don't have a lot of playoff games under there belts it is not looking good for them. You can see the Canucks licking their chops hungry for a win and the series lead. Compared to the first two periods with the penalties and after the whistle scrums the third looks like a different game all together. Which the Canucks carried the play for pretty much the whole period. The Canucks and Luongo managed to fight off the Blues attack in the last 45 seconds and hold on for a 2-1 win and a 1-0 lead in the series game two takes place Friday April 17 in Vancouver.
Elsewhere it was Pittsburgh winning 4-1 over Philly it was Sidney Crosby,Tyler Kennedy,Evgeni Malkin, Mark Eaton scoring for the Pens. Simon Gagne got the only goal for the Flyers who now trail Pittsburgh 1-0 in the series. Game 2 goes Friday April 17 in Pittsburgh.
The Rangers were the only road team to win on the opening night of the playoffs downing Washington 4-3. As it was Scott Gomez,Nik Antropov,Markus Naslund,Brandon Dubinski scoring for the blue shirts. Replying for the Caps Tomas Fleischman,Viktor Kozlov,Alexander Semin. New York leads 1-0 game two goes Saturday April 18 in Washington
In New Jersey it was the Devils beating the Canes 4-1 to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Mike Mottau,Zack Parise,Patrik Elias,Jamie Langenbrunner getting the goals for New Jersey. Ray Whitney got the only goal for Carolina. Game 2 takes place Friday April 17 in New Jersey.

Flames Drop The Ball
HUD That was the Flames hopes of winning the Northwest Division last night with the Canuckleheads winning in ot against the Blues. But that's where this story really begins it all depends on who you talk to when did it all go wrong for the Flames. Some say it was in the off season, some will say it was when the so-called cancer Olli Jokinen came over at the trade dead line. Some will say it was with Kipper playing so many games, but for me it was February 2 the first of two road games also the first of a four game losing streak all against teams the Flames should have beat.
That was it HUD from that point forward the Flames got stuck in a Regina size street pot-hole going 16-18 over the last 34 games. But that is only half of the story that's when the Canucks woke up sure until that point they were playing pretty good hockey but not good enough to keep pace. In the last 32 games they went 23-9 lead by the Sedin twins both had 82 points the Canucks also landed the biggest fish in the pond in Mats Sundin who had a lot of rink rust on him but still to have him on the ice was scary enough for other teams. With Vancouver take the Division they will play either Columbus or St.Louis in the first round of the N-H-L Playoffs the Blues will face the lonely Avs in Colorado tonight.
As we know the Flames will take on the young upstart Blackhawks with the first two get this in Chi-Town. That's what really pisses me off that the Flames could not even finish higher then the Hawks that's no knock against them but for the love of God the Flames should have and could have placed better then the Blackhawks.
But enough of the what went wrong talk all and all it was a good season 46 wins, Kipprusoff lead with 45 wins, Iginla had a other fine season 35-54-89 playing all 82 games this season. Mike Cammalleri set career highs for goals(39) and points(82).
On to the playoffs now is the time when the real bullets start to fly, the pace is faster, the hits are harder, and the intensity picks up. So here we go.

Rock fans of all ages are you ready I said are you ready to be THUNDER STRUCK!!!!!!!
After going back and forth between if I should blog about the AC/DC concert set to take place Aug. 24 at Mosaic Stadium. It was an old rocker from back in the day who help me make up my mind. After watching his eyes light up like a kid at Christmas time I thought why not I am just as giddy as a school girl to see the living legends live and in person. The show promises to live up to the hype thanks in large part to the band's energy and a massive outdoor show which takes 50 semi-trailers to transport.
With 38,000 screaming sweating hard core rock fans and enough noise to make your ears bleed .
I mean who could ask for more?
Tickets go on sale April 18 at 10 am the ticket prices are $99.50 and $69.50 plus service charge you can get yours at the Brandt Centre, Casino Regina, Casino Moose Jaw but the best place is on at http://ticketmaster.com
The really great thing about the way they are selling them is when you do bye your tickets on April 18 you can not get them until the day of the show Aug. 24 which makes for true fans only buying them.
Not these big companies or bullshit scalpers stealing from the real fans just to make a buck.
So AC/DC FANS get ready to hear some Hells Bells as we are on the Highway To Hell.

Happy Good Friday
So how was your Good Friday if you were like me you had today off and for those who did not well better luck next time. As my day was spent in great enjoyment as Ashley and I went to many of different of places to shop look around and bs. First it was off to Zellers in the Northgate Mall to pick up a few things. We then ventured around the city checking out little stores here and there. We checked out all the adorable pets at Petland. We were also followed around closely by a crazy guy at the new Brick. We of course stopped to have lunch, and then continued on with our adventures. We did notice that the city was in slow motion today due to the holiday, but that must mean a lot of people are spending time with their family, and that's what this holiday is about. Ashleys' favorite part was walking into an old book store, and having the smell of numerous boks surround her. For all the time she spent in there, she only walked away with one book. But I guess it's more the memories that did it for her! My favorite part of the day was walking away with a new pair of Sketchers shoes, they're pretty cool. After taking a cruise to Ashleys' salon, we went for our usual Tim Hortons, and what a scam that is. First they got our order wrong, which always pisses off my girlfriend, and then we don't even win on the roll up the rim to win thing. Like I can't believe this kind of business they're running. I still remember the time they ran out of XL cups, like how the hell does that happen? We made it home, both quite tired from the days events. We were going to watch a movie we rented but instead decided that this would be more fun! I discovered that there is a House marathon on t.v. which both of us are addicted to. So let's hope everyones Easter is great filled with family and good food! We're lucky as we don't have to cook, we are going over to a friends house. Not only do we get to eat their food, we get to play games, and drink the night away with wine! Good evening to all and to all a good night!!!

"I dare say Mr. Coghill living as he must do for the rest of his life without two-thirds of his tongue will continue to regard you as dangerous," he told her.
The bitten- off part of Coghill's tongue was recovered, but it was not possible to reattach it. "He has by the loss of his tongue experience a considerable loss of taste and he feels the disfigurement very keenly," Evans said.
"Thankfully people biting other people's tongues off is a fairly unusual experience."
"These courts have had plenty of experience of people biting noses off a person, or ears, or parts of noses and parts of ears, but in my experience, biting a tongue off in this fashion is unique."

3 Pittsburgh Policemen Killed In Shootout
The Associated Press
Pittsburgh- A man opened fire on officers during a domestic disturbance call Saturday morning, killing three of them, a police official said. Friends said he feared the Obama administration was poised to ban guns.
Three officers were killed, said a police official at the scene who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media. Police spokeswoman Diane Richard would only say that at least five officers were wounded, but wouldn't give any other details.
Police planned to release more details at a mid-afternoon news conference Saturday.
The man who fired at the officers was arrested after a several-hour standoff. One witness reported hearing hundreds of shots.
The shootings occurred just two weeks after four police officers were fatally shot March 21 in Oakland, Calif in the deadliest day for U.S. law enforcement since Sept. 11,2001.
Police did not immediately release the gunman's identity, but his friends at the scene described him as a young man who thought the Obama administration would ban guns.
One friend, Edward Perkovic, said the gunman feared"the Obama gun ban that's on the way" and "didn't like our rights being infringed upon". Another longtime friend. Aaron Vire, said he feared that President Obama was going to take away his rights, though he said he "wasn't violently against Obama".
Perkovic, a 22-year-old who said he was the gunman's best friend, said he got a call at work from him which he said, " Eddie, I am going to die today. Tell your family I love them and I love you".
Perkovic said " I heard gunshots and he hung up he sounded like he was in pain like he got shot".
Vire, 23 said the gunman once had an Internet talk show but it wasn't successful. Vire said his friend had an AK-47 rifle and several powerful handguns, including a .357 Magnum.
Another friend, Joe DiMarco, said the suspect had been laid off from his job at a glass factory earlier this year. DiMaarco said he didn't know the name,e of the company, but knew his friend had been upset about losing his job.
The officers were called to the home in the Stanton Heights neighborhood at about 7 am Richard said.
Tom Moffitt, 51 a city firefighter who lives two blocks away, said he heard about the shooting on his scanner and came to the scene, where he heard " hundreds, just hundreds of shots. And not just once- several times.
Rob Gift, 45, who lives a block away, said he heard rapid gunfire as he was letting his dog out.
He said the neighborhood of well- kept single-family houses and manicured lawns is home to many police officers, firefighters, paramedics and other city workers.
"It's just a very quiet neighborhood," Gift said.
