Pats Eat Their Wheaties

For the second straight game and third of four the Pats were winners. Last night the Pats beat the 10th ranked team in the CHL the Brandon Wheat Kings 4-2. Jordan Weal lead the way with not one but two highlight reel goals he also chipped in a assist.Weal has quietly gone about his business this season without much fan fare picking up 63 points in 46 games which is good for second on the Pats and fourth in the league trailing teammate Jordan Eberle by one point.

The Pats lead 1-0 after the first with Weal's 21st goal of the season then Ashton and Mitchell put the home side up 3-0 after 4o minutes. But Brandon would not go without a fight as they took it to the Pats in the third and Brandon's Shanye Wiebe ended any thought of a shut out for Pats goalie Damien Ketlo. But Weal pick up his second of the evening to put the Pats back up by 3 Brayden Schenn pulled the Wheat Kings back within two but that's as close as they would get 4-2 Pats.

It was the best I have seen the Pats play in a very long, long time, maybe all season. They will need efforts like this on a nightly basis to get into a playoff spot. And if they continue to keep this up not only will they get into the playoffs they will make some noise well there.

The Pats went 2/4 on the power play and 5/5 on the penalty kill. Brandon out shot the Pats 43-29 but most of the shots were not of the scoring threat as the Pats D kept Brandon to the outside most of the night.
