Pats host Broncos

The Lowdown
This is the second of three straight games the Pats have with the Swift Current Broncos. It’s a must win for the blue and white as they trail the Broncos by six points for 9th and Red Deer by 8 points for the final playoff spot. The two will do it again tomorrow night at the Swift Current I-Plex with a 7:30 puck drop.

About the Broncos
Swift Current is lead by dynamic goal scorer, Cody Eakin, who is currently tied for second with Jordan Eberle in goals with 34. They are coming off an 8-6 loss to the red hot Kootenay Ice this past Wednesday night.

Weal solid Top Prospect:It was a great game put in by forward Jordan Weal. He picked up a goal and an assist helping his Team Cherry to a 4-2 win over Team Orr at the Top Prospects game Wednesday night in Windsor, Ont.

Last Action: In their last meeting last Saturday, the Pats held a 3-0 first period lead, only to see the Broncos score three times in the second, and then skate to a 4-3 shoot-out win. The turning point of the game came at the 12:21 mark of the first period, when the Broncos replaced starter, Mark Friesen with Morgan Clark, who went on to stop all 31 shots and both shoot-out shots. Jordan Eberle scored twice in the loss.

On the ice tonight: There are 8 other games in the WHL tonight with 5 all Eastern Conference match-ups. One of them is on Access & tonight at the Moose Jaw Warriors take on the Calgary Hitmen. The Everett Silvertips are in Portland on a game that can be seen on Fox Sports Northwest.

Back Again Sunday:The Pats will return to the Brandt Centre on Sunday night, as the hottest team in the WHL, the Kootenay Ice (winners of 13 straight heading into tonight) will pay a visit, it’s a 6pm puck drop.

They are all big games:With the Pats in full chase mode in the Eastern Conference playoff race, every game is important from here on in. Here’s how the rest of the schedule breaks down: 24 games (12 home/12 away), 22 v/ Eastern Conference, 14 East Division, 2 B.C. Division. So far in the month of January, the Pats have started to slowly turn things around with a 4-1-0-1 mark.

Next Action: The Pats will finish off the back end of a home and home series tomorrow night in Swift Current. The action will begin at 7:05 with the pre-game show on 620 CKRM
