Today's post will go down in history for me as it's the 100th edition of Duncan's Deck. I have had a blast over the time having my say and hearing yours and we have had so many different topics on here mostly about sports but there have been others. I hope you have as much fun as I have. And I can't wait to share the next 100 with ya as well.
Well let's start with the Pats, this past weekend didn't exactly go the way the Pats had planed but 3 out of 4 points is still not bad. It was just very unfortunate that the Pats were not able to hold onto their 3 goal lead against the Broncos on Saturday night and lost in a shootout. But they have a Hugh weekend set with those same Broncos coming up this weekend first here on Friday then back in Swift on Saturday. The Pats need to sweep the weekend series but so do the Broncos so it should be alot of fun.
The Pats have this week off and Ebs and Teuby will get there well dissevered break as both have gone home for a few days to gets some R&R and finally have a family Christmas. Pats GM Brent Parker had plane tickets for both players ready but both said as much as we like to go home for a break we need to be here more. Brent of course said OK that's fine with me. But it case you don't know know the Pats are in the middle of the playoffs race and needed both to be here but wanted them to have some time to recoup.
The residents of Regina should really consider themselves lucky to be able to watch a talent like Eberle players like him don't come around very often. And Ebs is also a great person very nice and very approachable he will be missed next season when he is up in the NHL doing his thing. Besides the talk will the Pats make the playoffs is will Ebs score 50 goals in 50 games this season. There is no doubt in my mind he will. But can he score 60?
As of right now he has 34 goals in 33 games the pats have 25 games left in the season meaning he would have to score a gaol a game and have one game with two goals. That's is what we should be watching for 60 goals in 58 games. So do yourself a favor and get down to the Brandt Centre to watch the Pats playoff push and Ebs doing what he does best and that's leave the opponents and fans in AWE.
During the World Juniors I said that Patrice Cormier was a complete idiot and he should have been stripped of being Captain of Team Canada. Well he proved again just how much of and idiot he is last night he was ejected from the Rouyn-Noranda/Quebec game after he delivered a viscous elbow to the head of Quebec Ramparts 18-year defenceman Mikael Tam. Tam was left on the ice convulsing and suffered trauma to the skull and brain along with losing many teeth. This recent elbow was absolutely disgusting and Cormier's hit was sickening on so many levels.
The problem is that some players don't have respect for each other anymore hockey has come to far for shit like this to drag it back to the dark ages of stick swinging and barbaric metallilty. Forget about the fact that Tam may never play hockey again but he may never be the same again. That's on you Cormier I just don't know what else to say about this loser. Following the game, Remparts head coach Patrick Roy filed a complaint with the Quebec Provincial Police. They are now handling the incident and have collected several testimonies.
I for one have never like getting the cops involved in sports matters but each to there own. The QMJHL released a statement on Monday saying that the incident is under review. Commissioner Gilles Courteau says he won't be commenting on the situation today, but the statement said that once the disciplinary process has been completed , the Disciplinary Prefect , Raymond Bolduc, will announce the sanctions. Tam, is now in stable condition in the hospital and will remain under observation until at least Tuesday.
His release date will depend on the result of a brain scan he is set to undergo today. You can only hope and pray that Tam will recover just fine.
John Chick meet with the Regina media today for what will be the last time most likely as Chick signed a 3-year contract to play for the NFL's Indianapolis Colts starting next season. Along with the contract Chick also got a six-figure signing bonus so that sums it up Chick is gone the Riders need to sign Baggs. John Chick will be missed both on and off the field around here and I wish him the best of luck. And I'm looking forward to sitting down next season and turning the TV on to watch John do his thing on Sunday's.
For those who might be a fellow Calgary Flames fan please is your hangover as bad as as mine today is today after watching the Flames blow yet another lead in the third losing to the Ducks.
J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets!!
The San Diego Chargers proved why again you can't rely on your regular season standings to get you far in the playoffs. Year after year this team has great regular seasons only to disappear in the playoffs.
That's it for today have a great Monday Mayhem
