Yes it is about time I dust off the old keyboard and put something down. I have so many thoughts about this past Pats season and, and why not share them with you. First off all I will like to send out a big THANK YOU to Jordan Eberle, you have been truly been a pleasure to watch and in my opinion the best player to ever wear a Regina Pats jersey. I fought back the tears on that Friday night watching you skate off the Brandt Centre ice for the last time. Even as I write this I can feel all those same emotions I had that night, you will be missed you are a world class person both on and off the ice.
I am looking forward to coming up to Edmonton this Oct. to watch you play in the show. I know you are going to light it up there as well best of luck Ebs and thank you.
Let's not forget about the little talked about 17 year old sensation Jordan Weal wow what a season 102 points third in lead scoring and is going to be a high draft pick in this years NHL Entry Draft. I'm thinking late 1st early 2nd is will he will go. Weal is also a very special player and ya he has been over looked by some, it's not because of anything he did it's just that he played with someone who scored a few goals and wore number 7. But with Weal being the man this up coming season he will be in the spotlight all the time and I'm sure will raise up and welcome the challenge.
Colton Teubert what a difference a year makes last year had to one of the worst in Colton's life, besides winning a Gold Medal for Canada in the WJC. Nothing could go right for him. But this season was different as he came back refocused and ready to be the Colton of old. Yes that means grumpy and mean, but I love grumpy Colton the rest of the league can't say the same thing. I think Teubert will be back here next season to continue his wrecking ball play on the rest of the league. Truth be told I hope he is back, hell I pray that Ebs comes back too.
This season was hard to watch at times and ended with the Pats missing the playoffs for the second year in a row. That's quit the feat being that they have not done that since 1921. So many went wrong this year for that to happen they gave up 278 goals 4th most in the league. You just can't do that if want to make the playoffs, they had some guys who look like they wanted to anywhere else but on the ice. Some say it's Brent Parker, some say it's Curtis Hunt and some say it's the players. You know what ever one can take a piece of blame just not one person but ALL can.
I'm not going to sit here and harp all day I could but something are best left unsaid. I will say this there are some players who I hope want be back next year, and there are some who I'm looking forward to seeing again. The thing I do know is that changes need to happen and fast have the people in place so they can get some what settled before the WHL Bantam Draft. And this what I think they should do is Brent Parker moves up to be the team President, Curtis Hunt becomes the new GM and Sutter is named the new Head Coach.
In which he brings in Jamie Heward as a assistant and a new goalie coach someone to help Ketlo with his rebound control. They bring in some help for Ripper as when it comes to drafting players, nothing against him but there have been some big time players missed while drafting busts. And just a whole new attitude to the team. I guess time will time if any or all of those are done but for the Pats sake I hope something is done. Well I guess that's it for now I will check back later.
See ya.
