Regina Pats took to the Brandt Centre ice for the last time until Dec.5 as they make they way out west for a six games road trip. They will start on Friday against the Kiootenay Ice then head down to th U.S for five more before coming back for a mini home stand. Then back on the road for the boys as they get kick out due to the fact that the World Juniors is in using the ice. Well they left us wanting more with a 5-3 over Edmonton last night picking up there 11th win of the season and pushing them past P.A. for 7th in the conference. For those who are keeping track the Pats have now got points in 6 of there last 8 games with 5 of those being wins. It was Matt Stueby getting it started for the Pats early at 2:37 of the first, and Garrett Mitchell keep the ball rolling at the 5:32 mark. Only to have Tomas Vincour to crash the party with a late goal to pull the Oil Kings within one that's how the first would end with the Pats leading 2-1.
The second started off a little slow for the Pats and at 9:04 Logan Proulx would make them pay for it notting it up at two. But just over a minute later Matt Delahey would restore the lead for Regina. The Pats came out firing in the third as both Matt Strueby and Garrett Mitchell pick up there second goal of the game. Stueby's goal would prove to the winning goal as Tyler Hlookoff pulled Edmonton back within one but that was as close they would get tonight. As Ketlo and the rest of the Pats slammed the door shut the rest of the way.
In other play the Kootenay Ice's Max Reanhart scored at 4:14 in ot to gave them the 4-3 win. The Medicine Hat Tigers downed Brandon Wheat Kings 4-3, and it was Tri City taking care of Seattle by the count of 5-3.
So the Theo Fleury/Graham James saga continues as reports have started to come in that the former NHL star has decided to press charges against his former junior coach, Fleury states that an investigation is ongoing and further discussions with both RCMP and his lawyers are neccary before the authorities can establish if chareges will be laid. The New York Post reported this week that Fleury will proceed with legal action, but Fleury's marketing and publicity group says he was misquoted.
The legal team led by Calgary based lawyer,Hersh Wolsh,is working diligently through all the necessary steps and will advise Fleury on the situation in the weeks ahead. Said Fleury's publicists in a statment Wednesday.
Whether or not Fleury will press charges or if a lwasuit will be filed is still not as simple as a yes or no answer and the decision does not lie solely on the shoulders of Fleury. The investigation is ongoing and onvolves the police and our legal team. While media reports have said otherwise, once an offical decision has been made a media conference and offical statment around this issue will be made.
In 1997,James was sentenced to 42 months in prison after former NHLer Sheldon Kennedy and another junior hockey player later revealed to be Fleury accused him of sexual assault during their time in the WHL>
